People in San Jose who long for a tighter, more youthful-looking neck, come to Dr. Rosenthal for a neck lift.
What is a neck lift?
A neck lift is a surgical procedure that involves the removal of excess skin and fat from the neck. If needed, neck muscles can also be restructured during the procedure.

Who are good candidates for a neck lift?
Individuals who have too much skin or fat in their neck, or a “turkey wattle” neck, benefit from this procedure.
Ideal candidates are in good overall health. During your initial consultation with Dr. Rosenthal, it is important to frankly discuss your goals so that your results fit your expectations.
How can I best prepare for a neck lift?
Since this is a surgical procedure, the usual precautions must be taken before the day of your procedure. Reducing the consumption of alcohol and sugary foods will be advised. Also, you’ll need to stop taking medications such as aspirin and ibuprofen before your surgery. Tobacco use can interfere with the recovery process.
What happens during a neck lift?
The surgery usually lasts from two to three hours. Anesthesia may be local or general, depending on the extent of the work being done.
Incisions will be made under the chin or ears. Excess skin will be removed and the underlying muscles may be repositioned. If needed, neck liposuction will be combined with the surgery to remove fatty deposits in the neck.
What results can I expect? What happens after neck lift surgery?
As with many plastic surgeries, your neck liposuction or surgery results continue to improve over time. Optimal results are usually achieved six months following surgery.
