What is the purpose of Kybella Injections?
Is your chin taking over your profile?
Maybe that extra fullness beneath your chin is something you’ve had your whole life, something that developed over the years, or something you noticed recently. This may be a condition called submental fullness, or “double chin.”
If you’re bothered, you’re not alone as 1 in 4 adults surveyed online was bothered by their double chin.
Diet and exercise alone may not help. Submental fullness can be caused by:
- weight gain
You don’t have to be overweight to have fullness under your chin. Sometimes, no matter how much you exercise or diet, the condition may not go away.
Who is a candidate for Kybella Injections?
Help take the “double” out of your chin with Kybella. It is individually tailored to each patient based on the amount of fat and your aesthetic goals, injectable, permanently destroys fat cells in the treatment area under the chin and improves the chin profile.
Before receiving this treatment, tell your healthcare provider about all of your medical conditions, including if you:
- Have had or plan to have surgery on your face, neck, or chin
- Have had cosmetic treatments on your face, neck, or chin
- Have had or have medical conditions in or near the neck area
- Have had or have trouble swallowing
- Have bleeding problems
- Are pregnant or plan to become pregnant (it is not known if Kybella will harm your unborn baby)
- Are breastfeeding or plan to the breast (it is not known if Kybella passes into your breast milk; talk to your healthcare provider about the best way to feed your baby if you receive kybella)
How Does Kybella work?
When injected into the fat beneath the chin, Kybella permanently destroys fat cells. Your body’s natural metabolism then processes the fat cleared from the treatment area. Once the fat cells are gone, you’re left with a noticeable fat reduction in fullness under the chain.
The active ingredient in Kybella is synthetic deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that helps break down fat.
In clinical studies, reductions in the submental fat were observed more frequently in the Kybella group compared with the placebo group, as measured by the combined clinician and patient ratings.
