Activity Restrictions After Eyelid Surgery
Eyelid surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, is one of the easiest facial cosmetic procedures that can be performed. The entire surgery can last for an hour or less depending on the issues being addressed through surgery.
How the patient handles recovery is an important factor in the overall success of the procedure. We instruct our blepharoplasty patients to take it easy during the first 10 days of recovery. After that period, most patients can return to work. Reading or staring at digital screens may still prove to be a challenge because of blurred vision that can accompany recovery. This will eventually disappear four to six weeks post-surgery.
Strenuous forms of exercise or physical activity should be avoided until your eyelid surgeon specifically okays it, which is usually between four to six weeks post-procedure. Eye makeup may be applied within two weeks of surgery; the same rule applies for contact lenses.
